Esteemed Colleagues!
The Ukraine Citizen Action Network (UCAN) would like to call your organization and partners’ attention to the “A-L” (advocacy and legislation) electronic mailing.
Practical experience shows that the adoption of new laws and changes to existing regulations are a necessary but lacking precondition for the development of civil society in Ukraine. However, legislation should and must be changed at the practical level of its application, in particular on the local level.
Knowledge, skills, and most importantly, the drive to carry out current norms are a precondition for effectively protecting the rights of your organizations and target groups that helps your organization. Indeed, rights are never carried into practice automatically, by someone else, and furthermore when we are unaware of our own rights.
The goals of this mailing are:
- to provide grantees and UCAN partners with analytical information regarding the features of applying the current legislative and regulatory acts of Ukraine relating to the work of civil society organizations (CSO);
- to give practical recommendations related to strengthening the organizational, financial, and social capacities of CSOs by applying legislative norms already well-known to them;
- engage in interactive dialogue and rate the needs of CSOs with regard to possible changes stemming from the application of referred to acts.
Mailings will be distributed on a monthly basis.
Please send any questions, comments, or concerns to the following E-mail address: legislation@ucan-isc.org.ua
